Cantores Musical Director John Holloway graced the choir’s 20th anniversary celebrations in 2011 with six exquisite new songs about and from our beloved Cotswolds, specially set to music for our December 3 concert in Cirencester to the poetry of John Drinkwater.
With such eminent fellow writers as Robert Frost and Rupert Brook, Drinkwater belonged to a group who became known as the Dymock poets, after the name of the village near the Cotswolds where they used to gather in the innocent days before the First World War.
The Drinkwater poems are tenderly captured here by John Holloway in styles reflecting the best of English classical songwriting. As John’s choir, we loved this programme, and hope you do too.
